An Arizona convicted killers last words last night were "Boomer Sooner." As reported by CNN. Apparently back in the day this guy escaped from an Oklahoman prison, headed west and strangled a few people on the way. Justice was served last night. After he had his last supper he thanked his family and friends for being there and then said Boomer Sooner before it was all over by lethal injection.
This beckons a few questions...
First off, why would you say Boomer Sooner at a moment like that? Does he really believe in the football Gods?
Second, Was he really able to follow OU's season from death row? If so the poor schmuck ended after watching a loss by Missouri.
Third, What kind of example does this make? What a terrible representation of the citizens of Oklahoma. Here is a killer who even to death is boasting Boomer Sooner.
Its just sad that our wonderful state makes the news because of a crazy football fan.I just find it to be interesting that Boomer Sooner was this guys last words. Does he truly find meaning in those two representations of school pride? Or does he simply say them just because its a cool thing to do?
One would assume that he would be praying for forgiveness, apologizing to the victims family, or saying goodbye. However not this guy!
As a proud alumni of THE University of Oklahoma I take pride in our state heritage and school spirit when I say Boomer Sooner, but honestly there is much more than life and I am for certain those would not be my last words. What would yours be?
